To have something drop shipped means that it is being sent to the customer straight from the supplier in you behalf.

The customer’s order is placed with the drop shipping supplier by the seller after they receive payment for the buyer.

The customer receives the order from the drop shipper, but it will have the return address of the seller.

The merchant never has to handle the product.

The biggest benefit to the seller is time saved by the packaging and shipping being done for them.

There are a couple of things you need to do.

Firstly, you will need a drop shipping supplier that handles the products you want to sell. The Internet is your best resource. In your search engine search bar type the product name plus drop shipper. You could also type in wholesale directories. You wont have problems developing a list to choose from. There are a couple of things to look for in your new supplier.

The drop shipping service wont be free, but if there are monthly fees make sure that they are minimal. A supplier may ask that you fund an account up front, most will let you pay as you place orders.

Be careful the Internet is full of fraudulent drop shippers that will simply steal your money You may consider using a reputable online directory such a World Wide Brands, or check a wholesaler out for your self with The Better Business Bureau

Now that you have access to so many products, take full advantage and list them all on your site. The search engines love very specific pages with plenty of content, and pictures, avoid the temptation to group too many items on the same page.

Now you have an e-store set up, with very little investment.

When you make a sale, you simply place the order with the drop shipper.

What you will find most of the time is that your chosen vendor will have a store similar to your own, you only need to place your customers order.

A few e commerce tips:

1) The real money in this business come from repeat sales to the list you develop, so keep the prices as low as you can and get those names!

2) The drop shipper you choose may offer you a premade e-store, resist this temptation because the content will be duplicated across the web giving you no advantage with the search engines.

3) Get yourself an 800 number. No need for a service or have anyone answer the phone, it’s just that it puts people at ease to see it.

4) If you do a web search for trust seals you will find plenty, adding one or two to your store will help with conversions.

5) I can’t emphasis enough how valuable the list of customer, don’t be afraid to sell to your list.
